Cotag cards and tags come in two types – active and passive. The two types can be mixed in the same system. They are available blank, custom programmed and pre-programmed for use in Siemens Integrated and Entro systems. A programmer is available for programming blank cards and tags.
Active cards and tags include a lithium battery which allows them to provide hands-free functionality when used together with Cotag hands-free readers. For example, the combination of an active card or tag and the HF500-Cotag reader results in a reading range of approximately 102 cm (40 ins). The reading range when an active card or tag is used in combination with Cotag proximity readers varies from approximately 12 to 32 cm (4.5 to 12.5 ins).
Active cards and tags are particularly useful in environments where some cardholders are disabled or often have their hands full (i.e. a hospital or warehouse). When used with a Cotag door loop, the Cotag wrist tags can be used for wander control in senior living accommodation.
Passive cards and tags have no battery and provide a shorter range.

Active Vehicle Tag
These tags can be read by Cotag loop readers from distances of up to three meters (depending on loop construction). It is designed to be attached to the underside of motor vehicles, but it is also frequently mounted under wheelchairs in hospitals and care facilities. Please keep in mind that it is not recommended to use these tags with any readers other than loop readers.

Active Wrist Tag
Cotag wrist tags are designed for wanderer control and infant monitoring applications and are FDA approved for continuous skin contact. They read through all non-metallic materials. Operation at up to 65°C is permissible for short periods. Two models are available, shipped set to ND or DD. Fully re-programmable. Because of the need for longer reading range in applications of this kind, they are normally used with loop readers, but can also be used with hands-free or proximity readers.
GBI 51-900 Non-Discriminating (ND) tags for simple wander control.
GBI 51-903 Dual-Discriminating (DD) wrist/ankle tags designed for used with more complex wander control and infant monitoring applications in which staff can escort patients through alarmed doors without setting the alarm off.
